Why is Pilates so effective
There is vast amount of scientific research that promotes Pilates as an effective training system to fitness. Howver the system can only really be understood by practice and commitment to using the technique in a creative and dynamic way to see the true results the body presents.
Throughout life we suffer imbalances both mentally and physically. Daily life demands, stress, anxiety and career expectations take their toll. Our bodies become more crooked and imbalanced through daily tasks, poor posture, tiredness, poor lifestyle changes, playing golf or enjoying our favorite sporting profession or past-time or suffering an injury. Muscles become under and over-used as a result which can lead to discomfort, pain or even illness.
Pilates will provide a workout that elongates and strengthens, developing muscle elasticity and joint mobility. Pilates can assist with rehabilitation post injury, give extra training opportunities to athletes / sporting persons whose discipline may bring an element of imbalance such as racket sports or golf. Also enhances any sports person’s physical abilities for their chosen field.
As we get older we lose flexibility, muscle mass and bone density unless we actively maintain our bodies to slow the ageing process. Pilates can really help you to remain fit, flexible and fully co-ordinated for the long term.
